The Toolbox Project
This year we will be using a toolbox theme as we explore the CARES traits. CARES stands for Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self Control. They come from the Responsive Classroom program and are the traits we strive to embody at Murray.
This month each class is reviewing CARES and creating a toolbox we will use to house the tools that we can use to remind us of the skills and traits we've discussed. K-1 gets their pop up tool boxes where they will add drawings and activities throughout the year. 2-3 has begun creating a card ring they will continue to add to. And 4-5 is creating a digital toolbox where they can be a little more creative in deciding what tools represent the skills and traits for them.
Stay tuned next as we look at how a carpenter's level can demonstrate Empathy!
